Badami pistachio is one of Iran’s most economical and best-selling pistachio varieties. Due to its high ounce count, reasonable price, and pleasant taste, it is widely popular. This pistachio is mainly consumed in domestic markets and neighboring countries and belongs to the category of small and elongated pistachios.
Badami pistachio has a smaller and more elongated shape compared to other varieties such as Akbari or Ahmad Aghaei. Its shell is cream-colored with a slightly white hue, while its kernel has a yellowish-green color. The taste of this pistachio is mild and delicate, with a balanced fat content.
Badami pistachio is primarily grown in the provinces of South Khorasan, Kerman, and Yazd. The trees of this variety thrive in semi-arid conditions with warm and temperate climates.
This variety is classified as an early-ripening pistachio. Its flowering starts in April, and harvesting usually takes place from late August to early September.
